NEW JAZZ ALBUM TO MARK 10 YEARS IN THE UK

Sebastiano Dessanay

NEW JAZZ ALBUM

Sebastiano Dessanay’s new jazz album Restless Dreams will be digitally released on Bandcamp on the 8th of January 2018. This date ( special for being David Bowie’s birthday) marks the 10th anniversary of Sebastiano’s move to the UK in 2008.

THE ALBUM

The album features three musicians Sebastiano has collaborated with for the past few years, all based in the UK: Fulvio Sigurtà on trumpet, Bruno Heinen on piano and James Bashford on drums. Restless Dreams was recorded by American sound engineer Marti Jane Robertson at janeStudio in Cagliari, in April 2017.

It contains nine compositions by Sebastiano, written during his stay in the UK, some of which are tunes taken from his chamber opera The Cry of the Double Bass (recently performed at Tête à Tête contemporary opera festival in London).

The style has moved forward from the Songbook Volume Two and Songbook Volume One, released in 2012 and 2013 respectively. The album contains more articulated tunes, with longer structures and more complex harmonies. However, Sebastiano’s attention to strong melodies is still very present in this album.

The beautiful photos of the artwork and recording sessions are by Francesca Ardau.
